Hope City Internship

The Hope City Internship (HCI) trains people to work in missions in the Inner City. Alongside the core value of intimacy with Jesus, HCI also focuses on a lifestyle of prayer, character development, and promoting unity in the Body of Christ. Participants grow in the knowledge and love of God through Bible study and prayer; they also develop the life skills they need to minister in an inner city context by leading in the Hope City prayer room, serving in the soup kitchen, participating in the food distribution project, and evangelism outreaches. We do this along with ministering to and living among recovering gang members, drug addicts, and the homeless.

Hands-on training is complemented by classroom instruction on biblical themes such as intimacy with Jesus, ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit, justice, and the emotions of God as expressed through the bridal paradigm. Whether studying the Bible, learning the harp and bowl model of worship and prayer, or spending time with the homeless, ministry at Hope City is done while maintaining the heart commitment to fall deeper in love with Jesus.

“For those drawn to the prayer movement, as well as the mission field, the Hope City Internship was created for both. Our heart’s cry is to see justice and deliverance administered by Christ through prayer and acts of justice, and we have been uniquely placed for both. Our facility is located in one of the most poverty stricken areas in the Midwest, and we offer opportunities to serve the poor through our food pantry, community kitchen and our Substance Abuse Assistance Program. We fuel our many outreaches through our on-site prayer room, which operates 18 hours a day Monday through Friday. So for those with the heart of a classic missionary but long for intimacy with Jesus, we invite you to join us for a season of 3 to 6 months that will stick with you for a lifetime.”
